The primary research focus of the GUIA group is the assessment of food safety in materials intended for contact with food, with particular emphasis on packaging, as well as the development of novel materials designed to protect food products against deterioration caused by oxidative processes and microbial growth.
The research, development, and technological activities carried out by the group and transferred to industry have contributed to the growth and strengthening of several small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as to the creation of new market niches for large companies, both at the national and international levels.
