ABOUT ME
I have a degree and PhD from the University of Beira Interior (Portugal). My doctoral research focused on the use of applied microbiology to monitor plasmid DNA production for gene therapy. Afterwards, I was awarded a 6-year post-doctoral fellowship (FCT, Portugal) to develop novel active food packaging containing natural compounds as a collaboration between the University of Zaragoza (Spain) and University of Beira Interior (Portugal). Since 2018, I’m a Senior Researcher at ARAID conducting my research at the Analytical Research group (GUIA) where I carry out my independent research on nanomaterial synthesis, food microbiology, development of active food packaging solutions and genotoxicity/mutagenicity assessment of food contact materials. Besides science and travelling, to unwind I love cooking and going to live music shows.
